Autumn Reflections

Cranberry Cat
Almost nothing can inspire me more than the ecstasy of Autumn's colorful changes. In the face of falls true nature of endings, I somehow feel renewed and energized. Feeling rejuvenated allows me to be my best possible self, my energy stores are up and my creativity is at an all time high. And more creativity means, more laughter, more happiness and more fun in life!

Cozy Fall Sweaters
Warm and cozy fall sweaters, socks, jeans and boots get placed to the front of my closet as those wonderful chilly nights and crisp mornings replace the baked heat of Summer just passing. Comfy, soft throws and blankets garnish the ends of our beds to be pulled up and snuggled up with in the middle of the night in answer to cooler night temperatures.

Inspiration Lane
Totes of fall home decor are carried up from the garage and my home begins to reflect the autumnal changes. Long collected troves of treasures from many seasons past bought at quaint vintage antique stores or countryside yard sales are filled with Mother Nature's drying bounty of dried flowers, twigs, leaves, pine cones and more. Wooden walking sticks, that the kids have collected on various hikes and hand carved are decorated with raffia and dried berries. My favorite candle lady is called and an order for vanilla, caramel and apple scented candles are on their way and will grace my home with their sweet aroma.

Back Porch Musings Blog
I am so motivated by all the changes going on around me that I pull out all my crafting supplies and begin working on projects that I have been thinking of doing all summer; like the dinner plates (shown here) that I found on Pinterest and I just have to paint. I know they will look terrific when I have guests over for my next small dinner party. Painting, baking, crafting, decorating; it's my busiest, happiest time of the year.

Sweet Seduction
The seasonal badge of brilliant reds, oranges and yellows seduces the mountain girl in me and beckons me to come out and play. A cool, early morning hike along a favorite foothill trail or hours spent slowly kayaking along a scenic river by-way has me giddy with anticipation.
Mini Pumpkin Bread

A new yummy recipe, one among many, will  fill up our home with the aromatic baked goodness that my family has come to expect and look forward to at this time of year. The sweet smell of freshly baked pumpkin and the smell of cinnamon spices of this decadent recipe will lend it's ambiance in making the season complete. This simple to bake recipe can be found on Bakingdom.com.

I hope you have enjoyed this short blog about my passion for this time of year. I would welcome your posted comments and thoughts on how you feel about the season and what kinds of traditions your family celebrates.

Hike on!

FOREST RANGER GIRL

Some of the happiest memories are of times I spent in the great outdoors with my family. I remember family camping and fishing trips that were filled with lots of laughter, countless hikes on often used animal trails, playing in cool, bubbly creek waters and catching my first Rainbow Trout. (I fancied myself quite the fly fisherman after I reeled in that 4" baby!) We lived in Wyoming at the time and Ten Sleep was the perfect place for a family camping trip and memories to last a lifetime.

When it was time for dinner we ate what we caught for the day, My Dad would roll the fresh Trout in flour and cook them in oil in a well used cast iron pan over the campfire. All of us slept in a heavy, one-room canvas tent that smelled of kerosene oil all snug and cozy in our big, warm sleeping bags.  We would lay awake for hours chatting and listening to the night sounds of forest animals and the soothing song of a nearby creek.

Visit Ten Sleep Troutfitters and let them guide you
on your next family outdoor adventure!

As a young child I already knew that spending time in the forest and hiking in the mountains was going to be my calling in life. I was hooked, big time! High Aspen meadows, serene moments of fly fishing, adventuresome hikes, and fun-filled kayaking and camping trips was already well seated in my blood. I knew without a doubt that I wanted to be a Forest Ranger when I grew up.

Forest Ranger Girl Art
Following my childhood dream is finally becoming a reality., I recently enrolled at one of our local colleges and I am finally pursing becoming a Forest Ranger!  As a Ranger I hope to create and provide interpretive programs to visitors. I may also lead guided tours about the Park's history or ecology, present slideshows, give talks about stewardship, lead environmental demonstrations or be a part of historical re-enactments. I may have taken the scenic route to get here at the young age of 55, but if Betty White can become a Ranger at the age of 88, so can I!

It's NEVER too late to become who you might have been!  Are you following your childhood dream? Are you who you wanted to be?  Step into the real you...if I can do it, so can you!

Gone hiking,

The "Start Doing" Part

I'm living the life I have consciously desired and chosen to live!  How many of us can really own that statement?  Are you doing what you really want to be doing? Have your dreams and desires manifested?  Are you all that you want to be? If not, perhaps it's because you haven't taken one critical action step, the "start doing" part.

We all dream of personal success and accomplishment and achieving our goals and becoming wonderfully successful. At times we even write those goals down, thinking we will begin our journey, only to get sidetracked by one thing or another. Illness, financial challenges, emotional upsets and even the weather can put a real dent in our self motivation and desires to change our life or take another path.

For me, the best part of starting something new is, the "start doing" part. It's not the dreaming part or the planning parts, it's the part where I actually put one foot in front of the other and begin the journey. It's the part where I step into the spotlight and into my greatness and begin to really live the life I have imagined and that I have consciously designed.

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things

that you didn't do than by the ones you did do" ~ Mark Twain

Once I take that first step, signs begin to appear that reaffirm the choices I have made. I begin noticing Facebook posts or Tweets that seem to be posted just for my benefit. A new social circle of friends begins to pop up that are uncannily like-minded. Opportunities begin to show up in many forms as the universe suddenly takes notice of my "one foot in front of the other" action and is now ready to fulfill my every command. I love how that all works! And as the law of attraction suggests; it only works when you are absolutely clear about the direction you want to go in.

If you have made all the plans you can make, set all the goals you can set and beat that horse to death, then it's time to do the "start doing" part. No guts, no glory; be wonderfully fearless in the doing! I absolutely know you can achieve whatever it is you want to achieve. You and only you can take that first step; take action. You can do it! Allow yourself to use the momentum of that first step to propel you to take another and another and another.

"What one man can do, another man can do!" ~Anthony Hopkins

You can DO and BE anything you want to do or want to be!  I heard this statement often growing up in a large family of seven siblings.  We all took that to heart when every single one of us chose to become entrepreneurs in a variety of businesses. Business plans, no business plans, exact steps to take or by the seat of our pants we all took that first necessary action step that launched us into our greatness.

Are you ready to step into your spotlight and achieve your dreams? Comment on this article, join Mountain Girls Adventures Facebook  page, then send us a brief message describing your goal and that you are ready to do the "start doing" part. Mountain Girls Adventures will then send you a few of our best motivational quotes; the ones that keep us putting one foot in front of the other!

Happy journeys!
